Our Philosophy

For more than 30 years we have had the opportunity to help people achieve their weight loss goals and we are confident that you, too, will be one of our next amazing success stories! We believe that in order for you to succeed, you must first be given a detailed overview of the journey you are about to embark upon. Here’s what you can expect while on our program…

Comprehensive Approach

We offer a comprehensive weight loss program designed for your long-term health. We begin with a medical screening which includes a physical exam, behavioral health assessment, complete lab work, EKG, and measurements of body inches, body fat percentage, and body mass index. As members of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP), we have received special training in the medical treatment of diet and nutrition, exercise, behavior modification, and the use of appetite suppressants and other appropriate weight loss medications.

 Safe Medication Usage

The Broadway Clinic follows the revised ASBP recommendations. Prescription appetite suppressant medications are reserved for patients with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater, a BMI of 27 with at least one cardiac risk factor (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes), or an abnormal body fat composition. Additionally, every time a prescription weight loss medication is dispensed, the patient will be seen by a provider (physician, P.A., or Nurse Practitioner). This enables us to provide you with higher quality care and a safer, more effective weight loss regimen. Please understand that even though you may not qualify for appetite suppressant medications, you are still a candidate for another of our weight loss programs.

 Regulated Treatment Time

Appetite suppressant medications are generally prescribed for the short-term use of 12 weeks. Weight loss during this 12 week cycle averages between 20 to 30 pounds but becomes more difficult during the last few weeks as your body builds up a tolerance to these medications over time.  For this reason, we may stop the use of appetite suppressant medications after 12 weeks and substitute with an alternative weight loss medication and/or nutritional supplement for one month before beginning another 12-week cycle of appetite suppressant medications. Not only is this a safer method of treatment, but it also proves to be more effective. We do consider risks vs. benefits and often allow patients to stay on the medication for longer periods of time as long as they are not having any side effects and are consistently losing weight.  Please remember that our goal is to help you achieve your weight loss goals so please trust our medical training and weight loss experience to find the safest, most innovative approaches.

Nutritional Support

Based on research studies and our own experience, we believe clients have more success when they supplement their diet with key nutrients. In fact, studies show several nutrients improve the body’s ability to use fat for fuel. We offer a variety of food products and nutritional supplements to enhance weight loss.

 Exercise Guidance

Although the term “weight loss” is the common goal, our goal is to help you lose body fat and increase lean muscle mass. Exercise is important in maintaining muscle mass and increasing metabolism.  It is the greatest predictor of maintenance after weight loss.

Behavior Modification

While we do have programs that produce fast results, we do not promote a “quick fix” mentality. In order to become healthier, you must focus on long-term lifestyle modifications and be committed to making the changes necessary to promote optimal health.

Realistic Expectations

Therapy should not be expected to achieve the “ideal” body weight often set as a measure of success. A modest weight loss can offer profound benefits in preventing or delaying the onset of medical problems and should be viewed as successful. A realistic goal is 10% weight loss from your initial weight.

 Accountability

Monthly follow-ups are an important part of your success. These visits not only assist you in remaining engaged and committed to the program, but they also allow us to monitor your progress and overall health. While we strive to be as timely as possible, we ask that you please allow one hour for us to check your weight and other vitals, discuss weight loss progress, and refill or adjust medication(s).

 Affordability

We never want cost to be the reason you are not able to participate in one of our programs. Your health is too important. We offer Care Credit, a company that provides interest-free payment plans with no up-front costs for those who qualify.

 Education

Education is the cornerstone of our programs. Please ensure that you understand the program you are on and discuss any questions or concerns with a provider. If you don’t know the directions, you will never arrive at your destination. At lastly, remember to take one day at a time, have fun, and let The Broadway Clinic be your support!
